Hirbawi
Yasser Hirbawi’s keffiyeh factory was a thriving business by the 1990s. However, the import of cheap Chinese keffiyehs began dominating global markets, and by 2010, the annual production had reached a new low of just 10,000. Moreover, exports had stopped due to economic and other factors. Things started turning around when, thanks to international media, international resellers began purchasing these keffiyehs for their stores, thus, reinvigorating the business.
