Naturade
Karem Cook and Claude Tellis were in college when they realized they personally knew of several people who have diabetes and similar diet-related disorders. The pair decided this was a severe cause for concern, especially after seeing a high rate of child obesity in LA. They decided to start a business to try and address the same. Their company focused on manufacturing healthy vending machines, later known as Naturade.
